Nephrotic Syndrome in Children
Nephrotic syndrome is a kidney disorder which is commonly seen in children, characterized by excessive protein loss in the urine, leading to swelling (edema), particularly around the eyes, abdomen, and legs. It can cause fatigue, weight gain, and susceptibility to infections. While the exact cause is often unknown, it is usually manageable with medications like corticosteroids and dietary changes to reduce salt intake. Early diagnosis and regular follow-ups with a pediatric nephrologist are crucial to prevent complications and ensure a healthy recovery.
Nocturnal Enuresis
(Bed-wetting)
Bed-wetting, also known as nocturnal enuresis, is a common condition among children, often occurring as part of their natural development. While it can be concerning for parents, most children outgrow it with time. Causes may include a small bladder, deep sleep patterns, or delayed bladder control development. To help manage bed-wetting, establish a regular bathroom routine, limit fluids before bedtime, and encourage positive reinforcement rather than punishment.
